About

Who is Jabari Khaliq?

In 2014, I began Khaliq Photography with only one goal: to find a creative way to express how I see the world outside of theatre. The need to capture the world as I saw fit began leading me to capture my friends, my environment, and eventually even myself.

Slowly but surely in the years to follow, the Khaliq Photography brand was created. From a silver finish in 2015’s ACT-SO competition with the photoshoot New Heights, to the headshots of today’s Chicago actors—all the way to the multimedia visual playlist, Genesis: 2020, I have committed my brand behind the camera to highlighting the beauty of my world: a world that is youthful, vibrant, vulnerable, and most importantly one that is constantly booming.

As the Khaliq Photography name and portfolio grows over the coming years, the goal is to continue to highlight the communities that helped me discover myself through the camera in the first place. This means I proudly represent artists. Especially young artists, specifically young, black artists. At times we might find ourselves represented in media, however it is not always our voices that are the ones being heard.

My goal in everything I do artistically is to give full autonomy to Gen Z and Generation Alpha creators as we all embark on our journeys. I consider myself is an artist for artists. While most of my professional work is in headshot/portraiture, my true passion is capturing the snapshots in my head and sharing it with people.

This world is my platform, and I’m about to put on one hell of a show.
